Meet our RockMeadow Herd

Read about our beloved horses here at the farm

The Captain

  • Age: 14

  • AKA: Cap

  • Likes: Giving kisses, being a gentle giant, and taking drinks from the hose.

Captain is our go-to for confidence building. His easy-going nature is often described by the Rockmeadow family as a “big puppy dog.” In the arena, Captain is all business and enjoys his more challenging rides with intermediate and advanced riders.

Sweet Pea

  • Age: 20

  • AKA: The Unicorn and Princess Pea

  • Likes: Cantering, playing in the outdoor arena, and spa days.

Sweet Pea has a sweet and sensitive personality that makes her an easy friend for students at Rockmeadow. But don’t be fooled by her darling demeanor—this pony has some get-up-and-go! Sweet Pea loves to canter and learn new courses with her students.

Dolly

  • Age: 14

  • AKA: Dolls

  • Likes: Denim, Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5,” and rhinestones.

Dolly is our resident boss-mare who takes it upon herself to care for all of her students. Her confidence in the arena makes her one of our best teachers in the school. Her favorite pastime is a bareback ride outside on a sunny day!

Tibbs

  • Age: 15

  • AKA: Tibber Wibbers

  • Likes: Cucumbers and being an introvert.

Tibbs is one of our two ex-race horses. He enjoys arena work, snooping on his stall neighbors, and trying out new snacks. Tibbs isn’t keen on surprises and therefore prefers a confident rider to keep him reassured during work.

Boots

  • Age: 9

  • Likes: Grass, Thunder, and saying hello to new students.

Boots has been by Thunder’s side for the majority of his life. Although, the duo occasionally separates so Boots can teach the littlest of beginners.

Thunder

  • Age: 18

  • Likes: Boots and taking naps.

Thunder is Boots' older-yet-tinier brother standing at 9-hands-high. He enjoys back scratches and playing with the various toys volunteers have adorned his stall with.

Fun Fact: Thunder knows how to jump over small obstacles and even bow!

Scout

  • Age: 14

  • AKA: Scout-y

  • Likes: Grass, teaching kids to trot, and falling asleep in the cross ties.

Scout is the go-to beginner’s pony and really does it all. He is incredibly patient as new students have many “firsts” under saddle and begin to gain their confidence.

Roo

  • Age: 27

  • AKA: Roofus, The Buffalo

  • Likes: Chew toys, being the tallest horse in the barn, and well-soaked alfalfa.

Roo is our proud and grouchy ex-show jumping champ. Roo loves to canter with his intermediate students and his floaty stride makes him a treat to ride.

Bandit

  • Age: 19

  • AKA: Bandit-o

  • Likes: Texas Longhorns, Johnny Cash, and being on the trail.

Bandit is what cowboy dreams are made of! He’ll try out his footwork over poles or slow-poke down the neighborhood trails—this guy is up for anything. Bandit is also one of our go-to teachers for first rides.

Sterling

  • Age: 13

  • AKA: Dragon, Stir Fry

  • Likes: Carrots, working at liberty, and trot poles

Sterling is our dragon with a past. His career as a racehorse is mostly unknown to the riding school but we can assume it was not very kind to him. Sterling is happiest when working in lessons and gives his all for the most patient of riders while he still learns that some things are not as scary as they seem.

Scooter

  • Age: 14

  • AKA: Scoot, Rootin’ Tootin’ Scooter, Rocket Man

  • Likes: To go fast and be curious about everything and anything.

Scooter is Rockmeadow’s resident goofball. You will always catch him giving you (or whatever else has his attention) a funny look. He is curious and wants to be in-the-know about all barn happenings. Scooter loves to work in lessons and despite his energy, he takes it upon himself to be extra careful with his smaller students.

Panda

  • Age: 10

  • AKA: Panda Bear

  • Likes: Impersonating a giraffe and her best friend Dolly.

Panda is a newer addition to the Rockmeadow Riding School. As a recently retired polo player, she is still learning the ropes of her new job as a riding school horse.

Fun Fact: Panda snorts most strides of her canter.
