Position Overview
RockMeadow Riding School is seeking an enthusiastic and adaptable Riding Instructor to join our team in a part-time role, with the potential to grow into full-time for the right candidate. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about teaching horsemanship, working with both riders and horses, and helping grow a positive lesson program. The role combines instruction, horse care, and general barn responsibilities. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with students of all ages and experience levels and brings patience, creativity, and a positive attitude to the barn. This role is a great opportunity for an instructor who enjoys helping riders progress step-by-step while being part of a supportive barn team.
Responsibilities
• Teach beginner through intermediate group lessons
• Provide hunt seat instruction focused on strong fundamentals at the walk, trot, and canter
• Help develop safe, confident riders through foundational horsemanship both in and out of the saddle
• Lead group lessons, seasonal camps, and educational activities
• Work thoughtfully with program horses to help them succeed and develop within the lesson program
• Provide occasional training rides on program horses
• Prepare horses for lessons and assist with daily horse care, feeding, and barn organization
• Support general barn operations including basic chores and facility upkeep
• Recognize common equine health concerns and report them to barn management
• Collaborate with instructors and barn staff to maintain a consistent program for riders and horses
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and fellow staff members

Candidate Requirements
• Prior experience teaching riding lessons and working with horses
• Strong foundation in horsemanship and horse care
• Experience teaching beginner riders preferred
• Ability to work with students of all ages and experience levels
• Patient, energetic, and positive attitude
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Basic First Aid training preferred

Schedule
• Part-time position with potential for full-time growth
• Afternoon, evening, and weekend availability required
• Must be available Saturday mornings or early afternoons and at least one weeknight
• Start date: ASAP
Compensation
$25 - $45+ per hour depending on experience
