Intro to Horses 101

What?

This class concentrates on what you’ll need to know about handling horses on the ground. You will learn how to safely interact with your horse, handle your horse in different scenarios around the farm, groom and tack your horse properly, basic feed and care of your horse.

When?

These classes are scheduled 2 days/week for 4 weeks. You will need to commit to all the dates in one class as there will be no make up lessons scheduled. We will run Intro classes all year long, September - June.

Why?

After completion of 101 you can sign up for Intro to Horses 102 and take your horsemanship skills to the saddle. 102 teaches you how to mount, steer, halt and dismount, all while continuing your horsemanship skills on the ground. After completion of 102 you are bumped to the top of our waitlist and a lesson spot is found for you ASAP!

Who?

Anyone who is interested in riding horses or wants to learn more about horses! Students must be 7 years or older. If your child is younger and interested in riding, we would encourage you to look into our Pony Classes at https://www.rockmeadoweq.com/pony-class

Cancellation and reschedule policy:

Please check your schedule carefully BEFORE registering! Registration can be cancelled up to 48 hours before the start of the first 101 class and payment will be credited towards a future 101 class. Any cancellations within 48 hours of the first class will result in a forfeit of payment. There will be NO refunds or reschedules for individual classes.

For day of sickness cancellations, we can look to reschedule to another 101 class but only if there are spots available for another class that week.

What if the class is full?

Hopefully one of our future 101 rounds will work for your schedule!

How do I register for 102 after 101?

While you are taking your 101 class, you will receive an email with registration links for our 102 classes.
